Well-Be research results were presented during an international scientific conference

On 25 November 2021, NMS experts participated in the Second International Scientific Conference INNOVATION AND COMPETITIVENESS on the topic: The World through the Prism of the Pandemic COVID-19, organized by Paisii Hilendarski University of Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
The conference was attended by distinguished representatives of the academic community from 12 universities in Bulgaria, as well as scientists from Russia, Turkey and Spain.
NMS presented the following two reports:

  • Constructing a methodology for studying the stress and well-being of adolescents in pandemic, Regina Gospodinova and Yuliyana Dobreva

Abstract. The procedure behind the construction of a measurement instrument aimed at studying the effects of stress on the perception of Bulgarian adolescents for their well-being, motivation for learning and development and the identification of training and support needs in the pandemic and post-pandemic situation, as well as the results of statistical analyses to determine of the factor structure and the psychometric qualities of the instrument are presented here. The instrument consists of three forms - to be completed by students, parents and teachers - and the study includes three samples of 261 students aged 14-19, 162 parents and 61 teachers of children of the same age.

  • Influence of the pandemic situation on the current mental state of adolescents, Dr. Biserka Zarbova and Dr. Rozalina Geneva
Abstract.
The report presents the survey results about the influence of the pandemic on the psycho-emotional status, strategies and resources for stress coping of the students at secondary schools (14-19 years old) in Bulgaria. The research was carried out among students, teachers and parents throughout the country. Qualitative and quantitative research methods were used. The problem zones were found at the cross-point of the results there, bound to the vulnerable groups of adolescents, the sources of stress in their daily life, the coping strategies and resources they were using during the pandemic.
The papers are to be published in the conference proceedings.
On 26 November 2021, Dr. Biserka Zarbova and Yuliyana Dobreva from the National Management School participated in the section "Mental Dimensions of the Pandemic" at a round table organized by the Paisii Hilendarski University of Plovdiv on: Measures to address the consequences of the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
They presented the research data on the impact of the pandemic on young people aged 14-19 and participated in the discussion on their needs for socio-psychological and educational support to minimize the negative consequences and to prepare them for active citizenship in pandemic and post-pandemic environments.
Both events are related to the implementation of the activities of the project No. KP-06-DK2/7/2021 "Economic dimensions of the COVID-19 pandemic: the impact of psychological, legal and socio-political factors and approaches to overcome their negative effects" funded by the Research Fund of the Ministry of Education and Science of Bulgaria.
